FAQ

What do you feed your animals?
We make every effort to provide you with a clean and natural product. When our animal management program requires grain, we use certified organic grain. Our cattle are not "finished on grain" -just grass! As far as we know, Old Pine Farm is the only farm in the county using certified organic feed for the livestock who need it (pigs and chickens). Most locally mixed, readily available livestock grain/feed is not organic and has been sprayed with herbicides/pesticides. We go the extra mile to bring you the best - organic grain.

Can I buy your meat anywhere else?
No. We use a state inspected/custom butcher shop and our animals are not trucked to a USDA processing plant. All meat sold in restaurants, farmers markets, and stores must be processed at a USDA facility. We pre-sell our live animals to individual consumers. Our meat is direct from the farmer to you. You will be able to notice the difference in our meat quality!

Can I visit your farm?
Yes. We welcome visitors during summer and fall months. Check out our Farm Tours/Field Trips!

How do I become a CSA member?
Contact Old Pine Farm for our latest CSA Participation Guide and select which share plan you would like. Then, use our Sign Up and Payments page to sign up and pay using our PayPal link or you can send us your check.

Why do you include Emu and Bison in your CSA?
Emu and Bison are two of the leanest RED meats you can purchase. The American Heart Association recently included Emu in it's listing of heart healthy meats. Both are very tasty with high levels of iron and B-12 and low levels of cholesterol.

If I join your CSA, will I get a lot of Emu and Bison?
You will probably get at least one cut of either Emu or Bison occasionally. We usually keep this in ground form so that you can use it in spaghetti, chili, casseroles, etc.

In your CSA, do we have to get organ meats?
No. We tend to stay with the prime cuts such as roasts, steaks, chops and ground meat. Beef liver is available as an option at certain times of the year.
