Our animals are free-range, pastured and fed GMO free, with no growth hormones or animal by-products. Humane treatment in all aspects of our animals’ lives is our top priority.
We value genetic diversity and raise a variety of animal breeds recognized by the American Livestock Breed Conservancy and the Slow Food Ark of Taste that are adapted to our region. Some these include the Highlander Cattle, Berkshire and China-Poland Hogs, and Ketahdin Sheep.
Beef and Pork
Our cattle eat green grass and hay only. They are never subjected to a feedlot or fed corn. Our beef provides you with the documented health benefits of grass fed beef and is high on Omega-3. It’s 100% grass fed- from birth to finish. We raise a variety of cattle breeds, for taste and hardiness. Our Beef is available by the quarter, half, or whole as well as in the All Ground Beef Packs and in the Meat Variety Packs.
Our hogs are organic and/or GMO Free fed, free-range outdoors, and live in the sunshine and mud! We raise several different breeds of hogs including the Berkshire and China Poland. Available by the Pork half or whole or in the Variety Pack Program.
Due to our growing need for grazing space, we’re pleased to announce our farm has teamed up with other preferred local farmers who meet our conscientiously raised, grass-fed standards. One of those farms – The Gardner Farm- is in the Higgins Lake/Roscommon area.
Some of our cattle graze over the summer here at The Gardner Farm. The farm has been in the family for over 100 years and has recently been designated a Centennial Farm. The Gardner Farm maintains more than 450 acres and the cattle are rotationally grazed on 26 different 5 acre paddocks throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Hay is raised on the farm for winter feeding.
