Using the Whole #Grass Fed Animal: #Soup #Bones

Get your Creative Genius Going and cook something with Beef Soup Bones.  Touted for their health benefits you can’t go wrong!  Here’s a recipe I used with a lot of “variations”  It was delicious.  As Chef Vivian Howard from PBS- A Chef’s Life says, “Help the farmer- use the whole animal”

Ingredients- Crock Pot Mushroom Barley Soup

My Variations:  I used about a TBSP of Organic Better Than Boullion, 2 jars of tomato vegetable soup instead of the sauce, filled the crock pot to the top with additional water, added celery, used a whole onion, added a 1/2 cup extra instant Barley, cooked for an additional 4 hrs. on low.

Directions

  1. Stir beef stock, tomato sauce, water, onion, carrot, barley, mushrooms, and garlic together in a slow cooker.
  2. Season beef chunks with garlic salt, salt, and black pepper; add to the beef stock mixture. Add bay leaves to the slow cooker.
  3. Cook on Low until the soup thickens and the beef is tender, about 6 hours.
  4. Remove and discard the bay leaves and bonesto serve.
